Some exciting happenings going on in Laguna Beach this week! Today, Laguna Beach's first radio station is launching. The station will broadcast at 93.5, online at www.KX935.com,
or on a smartphone, playing alternative and indie rock from the 1960s
until today. It will also feature an eclectic array of talk, public
affairs and human-interest programs hosted by Laguna volunteers.
“An FM
radio station that people can actually pick up clearly is the one thing
this great community is missing,” said Tyler Russell, program director
and morning drive personality. “We’re excited to be the first creative
outlet in the area for local musicians and personalities.”
The
daytime on-air personalities will be Russell from 6 – 10 a.m., Shawn
Whitney from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Marc “Mookie” Kaczor from 3 – 7 p.m.
Russell was heard most recently on 93.7 KCLB and Crush 103.9 in Palm
Springs, Whitney on KBAZ in Missoula and Mookie on San Diego stations
91x, Sophie @ 103.7 and FM 94/9. The volunteer shows will be primarily
at nights from 7 – 10 p.m.
The
station aims to have close ties with the community to benefit residents
and visitors alike. It will broadcast news courtesy of Stu News Laguna,
happenings courtesy of the Laguna Beach Times, surf and beach reports,
traffic and parking reports, and High School sports.
Go to www.KX935.com for more information.
The studio request line, which will be live Monday, is 949-715-KXFM.
