End of the World?

With 12/21/12 approaching, we have all heard a variety of responses. From the doomsday preppers to those who assume this will be another “year 2000” situation to those who find this to be a great excuse to get together for eating, drinking, and whatever little extra indulgences can be found. We run the spectrum on this one.
Regardless of which category you fall into, today we ask you not to worry about the end of the world on 12/21/12. Not to worry about over-indulging. Not to worry about the “what ifs”.

Today, we ask you to hug the people you love a little tighter….to take the day off of work to spend it with someone special…to take that vacation you’ve been putting off until the right time.

Today, we ask you to stop thinking about the “what ifs” and focus on the “what is”. The what is wonderful in life…the what is special to you…the what is most important to you right this minute.

Enjoy today. Enjoy the holidays. Enjoy your life. Enjoy living like it is the last day, regardless of whether or not it is.

The Holiday Season in Laguna

The holidays are here and they mean a little something different to everyone.

For some, it’s Santa and Christmas carols. There’s just something that changes in the air when the Christmas carols start.
For some, it’s the gift giving. Whether it’s a thoughtful gift for a family member or a donation for someone in need.
For others (maybe those slightly less sane), it’s the shopping. From going out at midnight on Black Friday to finding the perfect item at your favorite local store.
For others, it’s the pure magic of this time of year…the twinkle in the little ones’ eyes, the smiles on everyone’s face, and the pure excitement and happiness in the air.

Here in Laguna, we know we’re lucky. We’ve said it a million times and we’ll say it a million more. To prove our point further, we are lucky enough to have all of the above at Winter Fantasy Sawdust Festival – Santa, carols, giving, shopping, and magic. https://www.facebook.com/SawdustArtFestival

Cheers to the holiday season!

R-O-C-K in Laguna Beach!

Some exciting happenings going on in Laguna Beach this week! Today, Laguna Beach's first radio station is launching. The station will broadcast at 93.5, online at www.KX935.com, or on a smartphone, playing alternative and indie rock from the 1960s until today.  It will also feature an eclectic array of talk, public affairs and human-interest programs hosted by Laguna volunteers.
“An FM radio station that people can actually pick up clearly is the one thing this great community is missing,” said Tyler Russell, program director and morning drive personality. “We’re excited to be the first creative outlet in the area for local musicians and personalities.”
The daytime on-air personalities will be Russell from 6 – 10 a.m., Shawn Whitney from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Marc “Mookie” Kaczor from 3 – 7 p.m.  Russell was heard most recently on 93.7 KCLB and Crush 103.9 in Palm Springs, Whitney on KBAZ in Missoula and Mookie on San Diego stations 91x, Sophie @ 103.7 and FM 94/9.  The volunteer shows will be primarily at nights from 7 – 10 p.m.
The station aims to have close ties with the community to benefit residents and visitors alike.  It will broadcast news courtesy of Stu News Laguna, happenings courtesy of the Laguna Beach Times, surf and beach reports, traffic and parking reports, and High School sports.
Go to www.KX935.com for more information.
The studio request line, which will be live Monday, is 949-715-KXFM.

Life's a Beach

For those familiar with Laguna Beach, it is widely recognized that Laguna Beach is known for…well, it’s beaches! (And maybe a reality show or two…)
Located halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, Laguna Beach is home to over 7 miles of coastline, including over 20 beaches and coves. Because there are so many beautiful beaches and Pacific Edge plays host to one of the most beloved, we wanted to know what the locals’ favorites were. Well, the answers were all over the board – from semi-hidden beaches that could get missed when walking by, to the bigger beaches with all the action. Looking at the variety of favorites got us thinking…do we know all the beaches Laguna has to offer? Well, here’s a good place to start.

Fall Football AND Fun in the Sun

Today is the kick-off to fall…literally. If Labor Day didn’t get the season going, today’s start of the NFL season certainly does. For some, it’s the time when the leaves start to change, and pumpkin lattes provide the warmth to combat that new crispness in the air. For some, it’s knowing exactly where they’ll be every Sunday for the next seventeen weeks. For others yet, it is the exciting start of the holiday season, heavy sweaters, and cozying up with cocktails. What about that other group who just isn’t ready to give up the summer yet? Those who clutch onto the last splashes of the season, devouring every last bit of that Vitamin D. Well, Pacific Edge Hotel has come up with the ultimate ticket – the Surf & Turf Cabana Package. With the oceanfront indoor/outdoor space, direct beach access, 52” flat screen TV, catered food and beverages, flag football equipment, and valet parking…everyone wins!

So whether you’re looking for the football, sweaters and sips, or celebrating in the last of the summer sun, the Surf & Turf package has you covered.
